Breaching
In order to pass safely from one dimension to another without traversing the endless, inhospitable void between them a special kind of inter-dimensional portal must be created. These portals are rips in the dimensional fabric, extending from one dimension into another and thus creating a method for safe passage. It's effective, quick, and much safer than 'void-hopping'.
This method of inter-dimensional travel is known as breaching. Breaching is a highly complex phenomenon. Beings that can't shift their existence through plans (effectively all of them save the gods and few others) must use this method to enter a new world. The nature of most purposely created breaches are small, tiny holes that very few can enter and exit through before they seal themselves naturally. These same breaches can be kept open through expending energy. Breaching will certainly draw the attention of gods, and in certain cases ensures that they act before the person crosses over, actually intercepting them within the breach. Purposely created breaches are widely considered to be a hostile action by the gods. There are also breaches that occur on accident when massive amounts of energy are released. These accidental breaches are far more massive than man-made breaches and can allow for whole armies to pass through, and usually remain open for decades.
Despite this, there are conditions for breaches to be considered natural. If a breach is manufactured, either on accident or purpose from a source within a dimension itself and not with any outside help it is largely considered to be natural. However, the dimension that is breached alongside the former may or may not be considered natural based on that god's preference for such activity. It falls to their discretion to close it, or allow it to remain open.
