The Boundless City Between Boundaries Empty The Boundless City Between Boundaries

Post by Riley Oran Mon May 05, 2014 3:30 pm

One moment, Alexander was holding a real, live baby dragon in his hands. It was something so new, something so alien that he could not help but to admire it. They were just myths where he was from, and it was already plainly obvious that he was not from here. He hadn't even thought of what to do next, but just looking at it gave him an odd sense of pride and elation.

Then, the wall behind him simply... stopped. It was gone, and he falling backwards fast. Then, just as suddenly as he had started falling he hit the cement hard, at first thinking he'd fallen into a deeper part of the cave. But the air was different here, and the noise... the rain had stopped, and in it's place was a familiar hum of what could only be a city.

But that was impossible, right?

Alexander first opened his eyes, staring at a blue and cloudless sky. He only fixated on it for a few seconds, long enough to conclude that he was no longer in the cave. He lifted his head up to see the small dragon in his charge, and confirm it's status before he started to wearily look around his surroundings. He was in some kind of plaza, surrounded by all kinds of... beings, he could only call them. He spotted a few humans. Real, living humans among the mass of lizard creatures, burd-men... so many different sights and smells overwhelmed him.

He rose to his feet, feeling disoriented as he surveyed the buildings around him. They weren't obscenely tall, just about three stories at the most. And that was only a few of them, but beyond them in the skyline where buildings that stretched high into the heavens. Something like a pipe in the distance rose from the ground too, going even farther up than the buildings and simply vanishing in the sky.

Then, Alexander staggered. He clutched a hand to his head and grunted, once more falling to his knees while still cradling the infant in his arms. Images and sounds floated through his skull, and as the agony stopped the word "Radix" entered into his mind. He repeated the word aloud to himself, before standing back up again and looking at the dragon. What was he to do now?

One moment Yudi was lying in Alex's hands and the next she still was but in a different dimension. This had a very large and sudden impact on Yudi. She had just been born and then thrown into a different dimension. On top of that the incredibly immense gift of magic which had been sown into her very being from birth was ripped away in an instant. Yudi was suddenly feeling very ill. She remained motionless only barely able to keep her eyes open. She gave out a very quite coo/grown which was the only way she could communicate she was feeling too well.

The Boundless City Between Boundaries Empty Re: The Boundless City Between Boundaries

Alexander hadn't noticed, but through all of his motions Yudi had laid extremely still. As he looked at the thing in his hands, a small seed of worry set in. "What's wrong?" He asked, but then realized that it was a dragon-- it didn't speak English. But, it could communicate. A weak coo from it's tiny frame, and Alexander immediately was on edge. "No, no, no," he he called out, backing up as he did so. "No, no, no, not like this."

He looked up and about frantically, but he couldn't make out any of the places. The people simply looked at him as they passed by, as if him falling from the sky was totally normal. What wasn't normal was what he held in his arms. A small creature, an infant and it was dying. "I..." He wanted to shout, but as he looked around he couldn't find the strength. He was working up to it. "I..." His voice was louder this time, but he felt himself faltering. To shout like that in a mass of strangers? He had too. God damn it, he had too!

Alexander was frozen. He was confused, dazed, and starting to panic. This was the second time in only a day that he'd been displaced so severely, and now he was being immensely over stimulated. This wasn't like Tartarus. Aside from the hours of torture, the place was dead silent. Hours at a time would pass without so much as a whisper, and even in whatever world he was in last there was a certain amount of silence. He was so discombobulated that everything started to swirl together, and each individual noise of the city rose in his mind to a grand crescendo.
_____________________________________________________________________
Constance had been enjoying a well deserved week off. Well, in truth, he'd only been off for the last day with six more ahead of him. There was quite an engagement yesterday, to be honest with oneself. It wasn't often that a person was so arrogant as to actually try to attack Latonia head on though the signs of damage had already gone away from how they were. He shook his head. As long as he'd been here-- his whole life-- that never made sense to him, and he never got used to it.

He was walking through the western plaza. The third western plaza, to be exact. Radix was a massive city, with more plazas and parks than seemed necessary at a glance. A lot of beings utilized them though. Large ones, animalistic ones, or even those few bipedal creatures of average size that simply didn't have a place to call home. Maybe they preferred to be alone, or maybe they didn't know how easy was to get a job in Radix. Sure, it might be in a part of the city that isn't exactly savory, but there was certainly a position to fill somewhere. It just didn't make sense to show up and wreak havoc in a place where it would be all too easy to succeed.

Though, admittedly he had lead a sheltered life, and never left Latonia save for a few containment missions. He was raised on propaganda, and he acknowledged that. He knew he didn't have all the facts and that was what bothered him. He liked having knowledge. He liked being in control, but no matter how many books he read about poverty and wealth, peace and war or Utopia and Dystopia he was never really sure what side of the line he rested upon. And now, even after being able to relax and given leave to take some time off he found himself on edge more than before.

Maybe that's why he noticed the man in the tattered shirt and wet hair, who stood dirty among the masses who had been washed. Maybe because of how out of place he seemed, it set him on alert. Was he a new arrival? Most likely he was. He carried himself like one, he looked about his surroundings like a frightened tourist, and Constance's gait shifted towards the man. He picked up his pace, the thought in his head clear: what if this one was just like the guy they picked up?

He stopped just short of the man, seeing that he was clearly in a panic. He meant to reach out to him, but withdrew his hand back, leaving it up as he instead simply stated, "Lost?"
_____________________________________________________________________________
"Lost?" Alexander whirled suddenly, exhaling a mighty breath as he staggered backwards to face the person that called out to him. It wasn't a spin that indicated hostility but frailty and uncertainty, and in facing the man he revealed the small thing in his arms to him. Alexander's eyes beneath the dirt were desperate. "I don't-" he cut himself off, "I need- I need to get this little dragon somewhere," he stated. "It just- I just- I don't-" He was breathing hard, not sure what to do, lost and now looking to this stranger to help him.
_____________________________________________________________________________
The man was torn up. He seemed to have been rained on, and recently judging by the trails. Most disturbing however were his tattered clothes. They seemed caked with a dark substance, and maybe to these untrained eyes around them it looked to be dirt. However, there was no rain today and no bodies had been discovered yet. It was reasonable, then: he'd just crossed over, and likely had no idea where he'd been deposited.

Constance's hand went up. "Relax," he said sternly. "Follow me," he told the man, before turning away from him. The other didn't have much choice, and was certain to do as he was instructed. He would take the man to APAT. If he didn't register, they'd find him and make him anyway. Besides, there was a particularly skilled physician of sorts at APAT who might be able to diagnose the small creature. The man called it a Dragon, and he had read of such things before. This did peek his curiosity.
___________________________________________________________________
Alexander looked once more to the small dragon, and then back to the man and pressed after him. He didn't know where he was going, but it was better than stumbling around blindly. For the moment, Alexander shut up and stuffed questions down his throat, letting his judgement cloud itself with this new uncertainty.

Elodie still had her face buried in the navigation tablet, not because she wanted to know where they were going but just because she wanted to avoid having a conversation with the little girl. Small talk was not Elodie's forte, especially when it was with a little girl who saved her from humiliation. She finally looked up from the navigation device putting it back into her basket just to see someone fall out of the sky, she managed to let out a high pitched squeal put cupped her hands over her mouth to avoid glares from the citizens. Don't draw attention to yourself, Don't to it Elodie... She thought as she muffled out her high pitched squeaks, but no one even turned to glare at her they didn't even look at the person who fell from the sky. She saw something in his hand, it looked... somewhat alive, no it couldn't be.... the monsters were after her here too!? She saw a man walk up to the person and told him something.

As soon as the man walked away, Elodie walked fast not knowing whether the young girl was following her or not. In her right hand, formed a black sheathed katana she unsheathed it and held the purple coated hilt with a tight grip, What was this man doing holding a monster!? "H-H-HEY!" She managed to yell at them, nervously biting her lower lip but continued to yell. She pointed her katana at the young man holding the creature. "You should let that thing go, it's a monster!" Before waiting for a response she quickly charged at him, Tonobigiri (Her katana name in hand) pushing back her frightened thoughts.

Yudi didn't know what was going on. She was trying to ignore all the new sights and sounds but found she couldn't. There was talking going on. Lots of it. She didn't know what it mean yet, but she was learning quickly even in her state of extreme weakness. Yudi felt gravity get heaver as Alex got up and then return to normal. Someone else was in their vicinity. Who Yudi didn't know. The only person she knew was her mother who was holding her. Not much longer yet another person entered the scene. This one was yelling and it hurt her ears. This whole time Yudi hadn't moved a muscle. Her eyes had closed awhile ago as she didn't have the energy to keep them open. Currently she was perceiving the new world through her amazingly acute smell and hearing.

"Let that thing go," shouted a stranger. Alexander's eyes floated upwards sharply, and he cast a glance while still walking towards Constance path. Constance also looked behind him, a narrow glance catching the glint of her sword. "It's a monster!" She was too fast for Constance to react too, and despite how close he was Alexander was much too far away. Constance simply wheeled around and thrust out a hand, vapor forming at the tips of his fingers as violet eyes locked onto the area in front of Alexander.

Alexander on the other hand reacted, his eyes sharpening. With his metallic arm he pulled the baby closer to his chest, and with the other he whipped out his sword to defend himself. He brandished Clarent like a warrior, this dirty man in tattered clothing. He stepped into the girl to counter, confused and wary but never more certain in himself than this: defend the baby, and himself, from this person-- this young girl who launched an attack.

That's when Constance fired the vapor between them-- a smokescreen of noxious gas. It was more away from Alexander as to not to further make the dragon even more ill, but Elodie was was the assailant in this case. Either way, launching an attack like this in a crowded area? Was the girl mad? Constance would shout at Alexander, "Move!" Despite being braced to block, Alexander would obey and roll to the side, using the broken line of site to re-position himself away from his attacker.

Uriel was still disguised as Susan from earlier, having decided to follow the girl a little further. She carried the puppy in her arms, gently cradling it so that it's form would have the full support it needed. At the same time, she curiously examined the girl who was ahead of here, trying to figure her out. So, she wasn't cowardly or fearful. So far, she just seemed nervous and awkward around people. Fair enough. Most people were.

Beyond that, it knew that she seemed kind and was very determined to be certain of her character. As the two walked, it noted Elodie's  sudden reaction to something in the crowd. There was a man carrying what looked like an infant reptilian. Though the angel-in-disguise could not be certain, it appeared to be ill. After shouting, Elodie was off like a rocket after it, and Susan threw out a hand.

"Elodie," she cried, "stop! It's just a baby!"

As soon as Elodie charged at the man and the monster, the other guy created vapor that created a smokescreen of smelly gas. Elodie began to cough, hearing the young girl cry out her name.. Wait, how did this little girl know her name? She didn't question the little girl as she covered her mouth continuing to cough, her eyes started to water as she staggered back from the smoke. She gripped tightly to Tonobigiri, hearing footsteps as the two men and the monster started to retreat. She tried following them, but ended up falling flat on her butt

Finn whimpered and jumped out of Susan's hands running towards his owner, "We m-m-must-!" She was interrupted by a cough as Finn barked after the retreats. She turned to Susan, "That thing is no baby! The mist *coughcough* is playing tricks on your eyes we must GO after them- Finn, where are you going... FINN S-S-STOP!" The puppy ran after them through the smoke, his human subconscious was not going to disappoint his master's daughter!

The Boundless City Between Boundaries Empty Re: The Boundless City Between Boundaries

Post by Riley Oran Thu May 08, 2014 7:51 am

(So... I forgot that we never introduced ourselves each other in the last topic with Uriel and Elodie. Derp)

Alexander heard coughing and barking though the smoke as he rolled from out of the way, stopping just shy of a bench as he rolled out of the way. He looked to Constance, eyes wide with surprise but also with something else growing in them. The Dissident rage was curdling within his heart, and for just a single moment he felt a pulse from Clarent, and was almost certain that the demon blade would wake.

It did not, but Alexander brandished it anyway. Constance started to move to his side, when he noticed a rather dirty girl with eyes locked onto the struggle unfolding, almost as if she were being overcome with a kind of indecision. Constance paused for a moment, wondering if he should move to protect the girl. Instead, he shook the feeling off and head towards where the girl stood outside of the Vapor.

He ran a few yards away from her while she was still coughing, and outstretched his hand while vapor wafted from it. He exclaimed, "What in the hell are you thinking?" Hoping to get her attention before this escalated further. "The man is carrying an infant creature, and you just tried to harm him!" He reached into his pants pocket and revealed his badge. It was a shiny, platinum-colored shield that read "RPD-APAT Constance".

"Attempted assault, reckless endangerment, public disturbance, public nuisance..." He looked around him. The civilians in the area looked onward towards he and the girl, watching curiously at what was unfolding. For just a second he turned his head and shouted at them, "Buy a ticket, or fuck! Off!" A large amount of them scattered, leaving only a lingering few that lingered by buildings in the distance.

Judging by the girl's reaction to this man's "Dragon" she didn't understand this place very well. She was probably new, hence why she was reacting the way she was. "You need to tell me three things. Identify to me your name, your species, and how long you've been a resident of Radix."

The Boundless City Between Boundaries Empty Re: The Boundless City Between Boundaries

Post by Elodie Thu May 08, 2014 9:15 pm

Finn stopped barking and backed up as soon as the man with silver hair approached them, he asked her what she did she think she was doing and that she was about to harm an infant creature. Elodie was starting to get very afraid, especially with all of the glares she was getting from passerby's, infant creature? maybe his eyes were filled with the mist as well. She bit her lower lip nervously, she should have just kept to herself! She tried to avoid Finn who was jumping around trying to get everyone's attention as if he was trying to say something, the man started to state all of the things she has done which made her almost slowly curl up.

Her blue-green eyes had caught a glimpse of the badge he pulled out of his pocket, to her it read 'DRP-TAPA Constance' due to her complications with dyslexia and English only the name stood out oddly. She gulped when he asked her to identify herself, she ran her shaking hand through her dark hair and begun to speak. "W-well I-I-I ummm..." She turned to look at the man and the creature as if to apologize but then turned back to the man with the badge. "Elodie is m-my name, I'm an uh- umm.. Hum- no demigod.. And I-I just got here..." Finn growled at Constance and started to bark loudly at him, he didn't like seeing Elodie nervous and this man was making her nervous! Before he could bark anymore, Elodie gently grabbed him and stood up Tonobigiri disappearing to it's natural elements.

The Boundless City Between Boundaries Empty Re: The Boundless City Between Boundaries

Post by Riley Oran Fri May 09, 2014 1:34 am

As the girl seemed to stand down, Constance extended his hand and withdrew the vapor back into his body, sighing as he placed his badge back into his pocket. She was Elodie, and also a demigod? That one was new, but who was Constance to say that such a thing wasn't possible? He crossed his arms, his purple eyes latching onto Elodie as the vapor cleared and he approached her. "You said you just got here?" He ran his hand through his hair. "I guess you haven't registered either..."

He cast a look at where the man stood, holding the infant beast in his gruesomly shaped metallic arm. He clutched a sword in his normal hand, though his eyes were much different than when he was being attacked. The worry was gone, and his fear and confusion had bleed out from his stare. His eyes were empty and angry, latched onto the form of the girl that had attacked him and endangered his ward. Alexander looked as though he'd been through hell already, but now he looked to embody hell itself.

Alexander didn't speak, didn't attack, didn't even look to be breathing. His anger was concentrated in his belly, and he was working to keep it suppressed in the pit of his stomach. "How dare you," he began with a vile growl. "How dare you. Monster? You know nothing of monsters." The symbol on his chest glowed faintly. Alexander could only hold in his thoughts beyond that, with the same line floating through his head. The most dangerous thing in your presence is me, girl. You'd do well to make yourself aware of that fact. He spoke with authority, with wrath dripping from his tongue and dribbling from his chin, while the rage curdled in his gut.

Constance looked between the two of them, and put his hands out in a non-offensive posture. "Both of you settle down. There are no monsters here. Just a baby dragon and two people with their nerves shot." He motioned at both of them with his hands, indicating for them to be calm. "Look, both of you need to follow me," Constance claimed. "We'll get you down to RPD and get you both registered. Your dragon can get medical help there. Alright? No more delays, mister...?"

A moment of silence, and Alexander's body relaxed slightly, though he kept look of mutually assured violence aimed at Elodie. "Meadows," he replied. "Alexander Meadows."

Susan just watched from a distance, a sudden feeling of nausea overcoming her. He knelt down on the cement, and became aware that this was not part of her act. This was real, a real illness. But how...? He eyes fell upon Alexander, and she felt what could only be described as darkness flowing from his body. She groaned loudly, indicating her presence. "I don't feel so well all of a sudden," she claimed. "I think I..." Her thoughts trailed. "I don't know."

Elodie's glared at the man holding the infant creature when Constance said something about registering, She was starting to get very suspicious of this man Why was he so pissed off? She made a mistake! She looked at the sword in his other hand then him multiple times,  He better not use that Finn! She thought as she gritted her teeth when he said something under a growl, Elodie was taken aback when he said she knew nothing about monsters, he didn't know what monsters she had to face in Japan! Especially when her roomates all set her up! They were monsters as well as the ones running the streets wanting to kill demigods. She wanted to shout at him, but the thought of more people facing her made her shake nervously and as soon as he told her that the most dangerous thing in her presence was him, She straightened up and opened her palm Finn jumped out from behind his owner and growled at Alexander as soon as she summoned Tonobigiri.

Elodie's hands shook with fear and anger but soon she calmed down a little when Constance told them to both calm down and follow him, The angry man introduced himself as Alexander Meadows Elodie looked at the violent look on his face and turned away.  "Pleasure...." She muttered, Finn sensed there was something wrong with Susan and ran over to her as soon as she knelt down to the cement ground. Elodie turned around and bit her lower lip, she was not so great at these kind of social situations.. Was she suppose to ask if she was okay? Should she carry her? With hesitation, the Half Japanese demigod walked over to Susan and offered a hand with a small wince, If Susan took it Elodie would would hold on to it. She knew Susan's hands were still dirty, she carefully hid her disgust not wanting to appear as a bitch in front of these strangers she would nod to Constance as if to say 'Lead the way.'

The Boundless City Between Boundaries Empty Re: The Boundless City Between Boundaries

Post by Riley Oran Mon May 12, 2014 10:45 am

Alexander turned away from the girl, breaking his gaze away from her as he approached Constance. He wasn't afraid any more, not by a long shot. Right now he didn't feel that he could afford fear. He had to be strong, to stand tall and put up a front that he was not to be trifled with. While he held this creature in his arms, he would not let himself be afraid any more this day. A strange place like this was far too dangerous to let one's guard down it now seemed.

As he stood at Constance side, he silently wrapped the chain back around his arm and sheathed the sword within, fastening it to his forearm. Constance stared suspiciously at Alexander, taking note of the sudden shift in demeanor and interpreting it as a valid reason for being concerned. He turned his attention from Elodie for just a moment to focus exclusively on Alexander. "Are you going to be able to check yourself?"

Alexander shot a glare tinted with uncertainty at Constance, before turning his look towards the infant and letting his eyes soften. "I don't have much choice."

Constance nodded, returning his attention to Elodie who knelt by her friend. He walked over to her side and asked, "Is this one new too?"

Uriel was still looking at Alexander, her thoughts becoming muddled because of the Sin Energy wafting from his form. "I..." it heaved a heavy breath, it's feminine form shivering in distress and illness. "He..." The word lingered there for a moment, the indication of a gender. The finger to point at Alexander, though it would not be immediately realized. With that, "Susan" slumped over, unconscious. Constance sighed, looking at the girl, the puppy, the man, and the dragon. He picked up the dirty girl and cradled her in his arms-- she was deceptively light.

"Come on, then. We'll get this done fast." With that, Constance would lead them all towards the center of Latonia, and towards the Radix Police Department. "Quick and painless," he assured.

The group walked through the streets of Latonia for some time, the unique architecture of the buildings leaping out like highlights. Alexander felt that the architecture was too familiar to him, too similar to Aramayt, and he felt an intense and misplaced feeling of foreboding because of this. As he walked, he was tense and uncertain. Constance took notice, and tried to reassure the man.

"Nobody is going to attack you here," he claimed, "this time was just a misunderstanding between newbies."

Alexander sighed, and quietly replied, "I know." The path before them was lined with beauty, but Alexander could only focus on the buildings that seemed to be looming over him. His thoughts turned sour and he refocused on Yudi, who dwelt within his cradled arms.

As Constance picked Susan up, Elodie was confused when the little girl pointed at Alexander as if he was... Well, she couldn't pick the right word for it... Constance would walk towards an unfamialar building, The teenage demigod quickly knelt down and whistled at Finn who was using it on a nearby tree. His pointy ears would perk up at the sound of his owner's whistle and ran over to her. "Come on... Just don't mess up anything, okay?" She whispered in Japanese with a smile as she scooped Finn up and placed him in the basket quickly shuffling the treats on the side of the woven basket neatly, hoping Finn wouldn't use it on the perfectly woven bushel look-a-like. She placed both of her hands on the handle and stood up, following behind the rest of the group.

As they walked she was right beside Constance and Susan, she wondered if Susan was going to be okay? Wasn't Constance a doctor- No, he was something else but Elodie didn't remember. She brushed a couple strands of dark hair from her face as she examined the buildings they passed, it reminded her of the big cities in Japan.. Well, before it was surrounded by her tsunami! She heard Constance tell Alexander that nobody was going to hurt him, she bit her lower lip it looked like she gave Mr. Meadows a bad impression of the citizens. A few minutes ago, she didn't care if she tried to hurt the animal in his arms but now she felt just a tinge of guilt but her selfish thoughts reminded her not to show any compassion and that everyone was her and Finn's enemy, especially strangers with metallic arms...

Elodie's attention went haywire, her head turned as they passed building by building wondering if they would pass by a local bakery or a community of suburban homes but all she saw was people of different colors and species walking around. Some of them carried briefcases, some of them holding screaming children, some of them holding lovers by the hand. It was nothing like Japan, citizens would avoid hugging each other in public and holding hands... Well that was embarrassing! Elodie was starting to miss the universe she came from, but she was here for a reason...

Yudi's fell asleep however the sleep didn't last for long as Alex jerked out of the way of something. This shook Yudi awake her eye lids slowly lifting. She felt so low on energy. Yudi curled up into a comfortable ball in Alex's hand. A little while latter Alex took a look out how Yudi was doing. Yudi glanced at her parent before shifting and curling up tighter. One of her wings extended out onto Alex acting as a foot hold to help her curl up. Once satisfied with the new position the cold leather wing folded back up.

The Boundless City Between Boundaries Empty Re: The Boundless City Between Boundaries

Alexander could feel the small thing getting comfortable in his arms, and he glanced down at the small creature with a concerned look. He could feel the presences around him, feeding him, forcing Sin Energy to flow through his body. He was feeding from their misery. or their rage, or their fear or sadness. He hated himself for it, but at the same time it wasn't him who made them feel that way. He was just the passerby who inherited benefits from their dark moments. Even still, it wasn't much consolation.

Constance lead them to a large building, with great columns that stretched from the bottom of the entrance to the top and raised a ceiling above the door. The building read on the side "Radix Police Department". Constance looked to Alexander and Elodie. "We're here," he sighed at them and invited them inside. "The doctor will look over this girl and the infant," he explained, "but you'll both need to go through the registration process before you can meet up with them."

Alexander cringed a little bit. "How long does it take," he asked? He had turned his body slightly to indicate that he was shielding the baby.

"Just a little bit, usually. A touch longer for you two, I would think. I'm almost certain there's never been a Demigod here, so they'll have to add that to the database. As for you... I have no idea what you are, but I'm pretty sure you aren't human if your arm is something to judge by."

Alexander cast a downward glance and nodded. "Yeah," he confirmed.

"Alright then," Constance motioned for them to follow him inside. "Let's get this over with." The three of them entered the building, each one holding something precious. Constance waved over a person from the front desk, and in moments there was a stretcher and a small basket with cushion inside. Constance placed the unconscious girl on the stretcher and she was immediately taken away, while Alexander hesitated to relinquish the infant dragon. Eventually he did so, though, placing it in the basket gently as to not wake her from sleep.

Just as soon as that occurred was she also carried away swiftly, and Alexander was left with an arm uncertainly extended, his palm hovering by his face as a concerned expression draped across it. Constance snapped his attention back towards the matter at hand. "The sooner you get registered, the sooner you can get back to it," he told Alexander. A nod, and Alexander had started to follow Constance towards the registration area.

On the way, another man greeted Constance from the wall, shouting at him, "Hey, thought you had earned the week off golden boy!" Constance replied with a glare, and kept walking forward.

Abigail watched as Susan was taken away by a stretcher and after a while the little dragon Alexander was holding. Finn put his small paws over the wooden basket and started to whine once Susan and the infant dragon was out of earshot, his pointy ears started to lower and then he looked up at his owner and then leaned against the side of the basket as if he was starting to get depressed.. Elodie sighed, it seemed as if Finn was starting to care for the poor girl and maybe she was too? From a few interactions, Susan didn't deemed untrustworthy but she did have quite alot of spunk from what the demigod has seen. Elodie has never met anyone like Susan back in Japan, the little kids did have energy but they would never talk down to an adult. Maybe she can trust.... No that shouldn't happen! Why would I think of that? She thought as she reassuringly shook her head at the thought of trusting anyone.

Elodie turned away from the hallway and found Alexander and Constance walking away, with a small yelp she ran to catch up with them carefully holding the basket handle. As they walked a man shouted to Constance about returning and he ignored it and kept walking. As the Japanese demigod walked behind the two individuals, she examined them. She didn't really like her first encounter with them but decided to give them a chance, She was more interested in Alexander's metallic arm then anything. How did he get it? Was something she wanted to ask him but the fear of him snapping at her like he did in the square it was better to avoid asking questions.

Finn started pulling paper-wrap from one of the goodies which looked like spam musubi, he tore the seaweed with his canine teeth, Elodie couldn't help but look down and winced she hated starving her puppy she shook her head and looked up at the two men. "E-escuse me, am I s-suppose to have some kind of ID c-card to register?" She would ask Constance.

Constance looked to Elodie as she spoke, shaking off the obvious taunt of the earlier man before looking back to Alexander. Alexander looked at him silently, but expectantly as he delivered an answer unto the both of them. "No. You receive ID cards after registration, but," he added, "the process, while not long, will require a blood sample. So, if you have a blood condition of some kind speak up. We don't any more syringes or processors exploding and-or melting again."

"What about poisonous blood?" Alexander's words implicated that he was talking about himself, although he never directly stated this fact.

Constance look at him, raising an eyebrow. "How poisonous are we talking?"

"Almost immediately lethal to practically anything. Also, it's venomous. It's not a stretch to call it downright toxic." That basically confirmed that it was Alexander's blood in question.

Constance ran his hand through his silver hair. "I'm not sure," he replied. "Maybe they can take a sample of something else?" Alexander shook his head. "Is there anything on your body not poisonous?"

"No. It doesn't make people ill through contact or exposure, just ingestion or injection."

"Hmm," he replied. "I don't see why it would... they'd just have to not reuse those syringes, which they shouldn't be anyway since that's a health hazard." He looked back at Elodie. "What about you? Poison blood? Needle phobia?"

Elodie shook her head when he asked if she had poisonous blood or a needle phobia, She never actually had a needle poked into her skin before since she never had that much colds she wondered how it would feel, hopefully it won't hurt...

The Boundless City Between Boundaries Empty Re: The Boundless City Between Boundaries

Post by Riley Oran Tue May 27, 2014 12:53 am

Constance led Alexander and Elodie towards the back of the station, and a mere few turns later they came face to face with a doorway that was massive. Several feet tall, several more feet wide, it looked at though it could accommodate tanks. Plural. Whereas the rest of the station was a series of somewhat normal-sized doorways, various heights and widths of course but nothing this massive. The room that the doorway was in looked to be the size of a warehouse, maybe larger. Constance seemed unphased, but Alexander couldn't help but be dumbstruck as his eyes explored the corners of the massive structure.

At it's end were two, giant warehouse doors that seemed to receive a lot of use. The marks on the floor indicated that things did travel through them often, and Alexander was tempted to ask what had been here but refrained from doing so. They were lead through the massive passageway to a window that was by comparison very, very tiny. It was actually "normal" sized by human standards, but compared to the rest of the warehouse seemed so very small. As Constance approached them he flashed his badge, and the woman nodded. "Two?"

"Three," he corrected, motioning towards the small dog. Her eyes fell upon it.

"I see," she said. "Alright." She was a skinny woman with a worn face. Orange skin, black hair, eyes of solid white. Her form was fairly average by human standards but she had scales and long fangs from beneath her lips, brandished fiercely in a tired smile. "Escort them to the back, I'll tend to them in order. First the young man with no soul, and then the hybrid and her cursed companion."

Alexander stopped mid-stride, looking at Constance with a look of shock and terror. How did she know? How was it possible that she knew? Alexander started to tremble slightly, somehow now broken from moving as fear gripped his body. He knew, but he kept it secret. It was a shame of his, something that he dearly wanted to keep hidden. Souls defined life, right? They defined existence, but Alexander didn't have life... he had something lesser, and having it exposed was not just disarming but severely uncomfortable. This woman saw his entire lie before he had even told it to her.

His feet seemed to lock in place, but Constance noted his trembling form. No soul? That's unique, but Constance wasn't exactly the religious type anyway. He knew of Gods because he had seen beings of that scale, and would only ever describe them as such. Souls? He'd never seen souls, nor given much thought to their existence. At the same time, he usually was never here to hear that, so it might have been more commonplace than he realized. "Hey, relax," he assured. "I'm sure it's fairly common,"

"No it's not," the woman said with a gentle smile. Constance mouthed to her that she wasn't being a huge help, but Alexander had regained enough of himself to resume moving forward, swallowing a large taste of his own fear. He walked into a door beside the window, opened by the woman to allow them entry. Constance was stalled from entering, and she shook her head. "Private procedures," she insisted. "You can wait here if you'd like, but you can't enter the clinic while they're hear. Medical records are confidential."

Constance nodded. "Alright, I'll be waiting out here. I have to take them to the medical wing afterwards." The girl nodded, and shut the door practically in his face. Constance stepped back, running his hands through his hair once more. "What a pain in the ass..."
___________________________________________________________________
The woman lead Elodie to her room first, a small white room not unlike most doctors offices that one had encountered in more modern societies. Cabinets, a cot, assorted materials throughout the room in various containers or jars left to be viewed but not touched. She would close the door behind Elodie, assuring her the wait would only be a half hour or so. Afterwards, she lead Alexander into the door adjacent to Elodie's, entering with him rather than closing it.

"Alright, it'll be quick," she said with experience seeping through her tone. He withdrew from one of the cabinets a strange looking vial. It wasn't particularly surprising in appearance, just uncommonly plain. No marks for measurements or anything of the sort were visible, yet she wielded it as though it were a fact of life. She presented to him, and nodded. "For the paperwork, I need a species name, by the way. If you know how many of you there are too, that would be great. Not exact numbers, just a general idea. I'll let you fill out the name and other relevant information in whatever language you're comfortable with."

Alexander nodded, trying to think of what he was. The same bolt of pain, like it had before, surged into his mind and clutched his head with the metal arm. A stern reminder in both cases to his true nature. "Dissident," he replied to her. "That's what we're called." He was silent for a moment before adding, "I think I'm the last one left."

The needle entered his arm and he looked away from it. He wasn't particularly frightened by needles, and this was basically nothing compared to the pain he had just felt or had felt in the past, but still he preferred not to look. It was a habit from the old days, and the new days, to avoid eye contact with his injuries. Moments later, she withdrew the needle with the vial now full of his blood, the read outs on it now displayed with characters he couldn't read. "Oh my," she whispered quietly.

"What?"

"You're blood. It's definitely on the higher-end of toxic. You'd be able to kill some of our largest residents with less than half of this amount according to the toxin levels." She said this with a smile-- a curious smile, at that. "Type L=. Only a handful of people with that bloodtype in this city." The wound on is arm had already healed, even as she had just been speaking, turned away for a mere moment to prepare a sanitation pad. She placed it down on the counter and picked up a roll of measuring tape, proceeding to take Aleaxnder's measurements. Afterwards, she merely touched the measuring tape to the vial, and instantly more characters appeared on it.

She then handed Alexander a work form. "Alright, fill this out with whatever medical information you find relevant." Alexander nodded at her, and the moment he tried to right realized she had failed to give him a pen. He looked to her quizzically, but she only smiled back. He tapped the page while looking at her, and the second his metallic finger touched the page the form filled itself out, but he didn't notice this with his attention focused on her.

"Miss, I need something tow write with?"

"No you don't. The paperwork is already filled out."

"What?" Alexander looked down to see that she was correct, and looked back to her with a stunned expression.

"Yeah. That happens to first timers a lot. It's psychic paper," she explained. "I'm not exactly sure how it works, but it's incredibly convenient." She moved back towards him from the other side of the room, having grabbed an injection of some kind from the shelf. "It's a precaution. You're blood type is very resilient, but there are a few parasites in the city that thrive in a toxic environment. You're body is one of those." Before Alexander could respond, a needle was jammed into the back of his neck and just as quickly withdrawn, it's payload deposited. He rubbed the back of his neck while wincing. Now, that had hurt.

She retrieved from his hands the paper, taking it with her as she moved towards the exit of the room. "I'll be back in no longer than half-an hour," she promised. "Sit tight."

She moved to the next door, entering a little ahead of schedule. "That was faster than I thought. Your friend didn't need many injections." She sat down his clip board, and retrieved another from the closet as well as another strange looking vile. "Aren't you a pretty one? What's your name?" She was earnest in her speech, though her appearance was somewhat frightening.

The Boundless City Between Boundaries Empty Re: The Boundless City Between Boundaries

Post by Elodie Fri May 30, 2014 8:24 pm

Elodie looked in front of the large doorway that Constance led them to, but her attention soon turned to the hallways at the passerby's who were desperately trying to get to their offices. As they walked through a huge passageway, The demigod felt her puppy squirm through the basket as if waiting to hop out and run around. The teenage girl looked up as an orange skinned woman approached them, she looked her up and down. She has only seen people this skin color in a manga or an anime, My word... She thought as she looked at her in awe. People in this world were very unique, in Japan everyone looked the same but there were the foreigners that went to school for one year and then left but there were others that stayed but were treated harshly. For a split second, Elodie forget she was a foreigner as well..

'..And then the hybrid and her cursed companion.' The words remained in Elly's ears, cursed? She looked down at Finn once again who was barking at the woman, Elodie wanted to protest that Finn was just an innocent puppy and not some cursed animal.. What did she mean by 'cursed'? The teenage demigod shook her head and turned to Alexander who looked like he was angry, She wondered why this guy always looked like someone stole his cookies or something but didn't question him. Maybe she needed to get to know him better, from her point of view it didn't look like that was ever going to happen especially with her being socially awkward and him being... mean?

The awkward girl and her puppy followed the woman into her room and nodded as she said that they would have to wait in hour. Elodie clumsily fell on the cot and placed the basket right on the floor next to her feet. Finn yapped and hopped out, stretching out his little legs as he examined the room. Tatsu/Finn walked over to the chair and sat under it, but then decided to lift his leg and pee on the legs of the chair. This is what you get for exposing my secret! He thought. Elodie slowly sat up when she heard the absurd noise, turning over to where Finn was she gasped and quickly jumped out of the cot. "F-Finn no!" She exclaimed with a shriek as she looked around and found a few towels on one of the counters. The demigod tried to find a Windex somewhere but her eyes laid on a aquamarine colored liquid in one of the vials, without hesitation she snatched it quickly unscrewing the top and pouring it on top of the towels stopping until they turned blue.

Finn started to whine and move over as Elodie, who had a disgusted look on her face as she knelled down and threw the a few of the towels on the yellow puddle. She wrapped the blue towels around her puppy, ignoring his pleas and his squirms. She sighed deeply, wondering what was going on with Finn he never acted so disorderly in public and never peed on anyone's chairs. Maybe he missed home? "You're not cursed are you?" She asked him, looking into his onyx colored eyes. "I didn't think so." Finn licked her cheek as if he understood what she was talking about, and hopped onto the cot when he heard the door open.

The socially awkward teenage girl quickly climbed on the cot almost sitting on Finn, who looked like he was turning a different color... She smiled and nodded when the woman from earlier told her about Alexander titling him as 'your friend'. Elodie almost cringed at the word, she has never really had a real friend before who was human no one her age wanted to be around her mostly because she stuttered and sweat whenever she spoke. Her social anxiety disorder wasn't as severe as she thought it was, though she had a 'trust no one' demeanor she wanted a social life and people that would talk to her and not bark; She loved Finn but maybe she needed to make a few friends of her own.. Maybe not.. When the lady called her pretty and asked for her name she blushed and looked at the floor. "Elodie Umiko Borealis...." She would say.

The Boundless City Between Boundaries Empty Re: The Boundless City Between Boundaries

Post by Riley Oran Sat May 31, 2014 1:31 pm

The nurse nodded at the young girl. She didn't need the name for the procedure, she just thought it would be nice to ask. The other gentleman seemed a lot disconnected than they girl did. He never offered his name until his papers were filled out! It was fine. Likely, he wouldn't pass through this way again just like Elodie probably wouldn't either. It was still a good gesture to offer her name, and a smile spread across the nurse's face. "Nice to meet you, Elodie." The woman introduced herself in return, but the name was a quick series of guttural sounds that a human body couldn't... or at least, shouldn't be able to replicate. "But you can call me Gee," she concluded with.

Elodie's procedure would be a little different than Alexander's, primarily because the nurse was contending with two beings instead of one. The young girl before her was one, while the dog on the cot behind her was the other. She would do the girl first. She revealed two vials from a nearby cabinet, both odd in shape like the one she had presented Alexander. They had needles protruding from their bases that weren't terribly large, but the vials themselves were unmarked. One of them was for Finn, so she set it off to the side.

She approached Elodie and brandished the needle. In truth, these needles were specially made. Many beings that came through Radix had thick hides, and a few of them were extraordinarily difficult to injure. Some of the best Source Magicians who had been practicing curative magic and medicine in tandem created these technologically advanced syringes and vials. While they usually functioned no different than a normal vial, they could pass through the skin once it offered up resistance by becoming incorporeal, shifting into the body, and then forcing the matter of the skin and veins apart in a small place in order for the blood to be drawn. It could then be pulled out like any other needle, with no problem.

She offered the injection to Elodie, who would hopefully comply by offering her. If she did, the work would be done fairly quickly. Only a few seconds would pass at most, and the vial would fill up with the crimson liquid as it sloshed into the small receptacle. Just a little bit of blood, and now the side of the vial lit up in a foriegn language. She smiled at Elodie gently, her fangs making her seem unintentionally menacing. "Blood type C+. Very promising," she explained, though didn't go into details on why it would be "promising".

She handed Elodie the blank form and clipboard just like she had done many times before, and walked away, grabbing the other vial and heading towards Finn Elodie would look up for just a moment, and look down only to find that her information had filled itself out.
