Twenty-Seven Tethers, The

Shortly after the Infinite Lives event, a handful of sentient minds with a special connection to The Core and The Spark were instilled with attributes representing an aspect of life and a binding force of reality. These initial tethers were few in number, but as the eons passed they became twenty-seven.

The Twenty-Seven Tethers are entities that remain remarkably consistent through all realities. Their genders, appearance, personalities, and histories generally match up to their cross-dimensional counterparts with some differences to account for the varying realities they all reside in. The only truly inconsistent factor is their age, as a tether may be twenty-five in one universe and eighty in another.

The tethers are extremely important to the function of reality. In dimensions where too many tethers have died in conditions that prevent their immediate reincarnation, the realities themselves have been irrevocably damaged. In certain cases, entire dimensions have fallen into states of utter nonexistence after imploding on themselves due to an irreversible erosion of physical laws.
