Get Ready for the Second Checkpoint (Community Verdict) Empty Get Ready for the Second Checkpoint (Community Verdict)

I want to first state that I don't intend to make a habit out of doing this.

This is a topic to determine the fate of Ander's characters Ander and Vokun.

I would like it to be understood that we are not dealing with faceless tools. While all characters on Genesis Project will ultimately be seen as tools to further plot, we as members do ultimately forge a greater connection with our creations. They are near and dear to us, and similarly they are dear to those that have created them. Matters like this are severe and grave, and must be handled with the utmost respect and caution. As such, we must remove personal bias for the advancement of plot. I am of the school of thought that every topic matters and that a conclusion must be rendered, even if the other is not here to assist in that measure.

This means that we as a community are being called together. We must discuss the fate of Ander's characters for the sake of the site as a whole. I am not a fan of rendering things non-canon simply for convenience's sake, nor am I one for demeaning the work already put into a topic by those involved.  What I  now present should hopefully be treated as a standard procedure in situations such as this, which I have even greater hope will be rare. As my contact with Ander has been severed I am unable to resolve this matter with him, and so I ask the community to help me make the right choice.

But first, the characters in question.

Ander is the only known survivor of a dimension based off of Kingdom Hearts RPG. A human that has been turned Amaranth by the Hive and Sirius, he and Sirius lead an assault that ultimately brought the dimension to collapse. He arrived in a dimension inhabited by Ray, on accident, and was quickly brought to Radix as a result of a conflict between Ray and an entity of Death known as The Collector. After the battle, Ander attempted to do battle with Ray but had his prize snatched from him. After venturing from Orbis to Latonia he became host to a pocket devil named Buggy. Afterwards, he launched an attack on Latonia with the aid of his demon Vokun, intending to overtake the area.

Vokun is a Demon bound to Ander by means unknown, who funnels power into him and serves as a guide and encourages Ander. He appeared alongside Ander once he began his assault on Latonia.

The situation is as follows, then. Currently, Ander is severely wounded. He has suffered a major blow to his shoulder (and for all intents and purposes doesn't have a shoulder for the time being). He is about to be tackled over the edge of the building top on which he stands by Conner Sandal, a lightning elemental. APAT is the group Conner is from. There is an additional member on the roof with Conner, and some named members on the ground along with around thirty total APAT members in the area. They all have some variety of super-power. They are not attempting to kill Ander, but to subdue him. Buggy is current;y within Ander's body attempting to heal him. About three miles away is the sniper who injured Ander's shoulder. He is the only one in the group with stated intentions to kill Ander, but no longer has the time to readjust his rifle to make a shot.

Given this situation, I want to here input on the most likely way you all think this would turn out.

In my opinion, Ander survives and is simply locked away by APAT. That's merely how I envision the scenario unfolding. For expanded detail, another nameless individual would use their powers to prevent a lethal fall for Conner and Ander, while Vokun is defeated by the agent on the roof. Ander, Buggy, and Vokun are all restrained and kept under lock and key.

Once all suggestions have been submitted, there will be a vote. However, if Ander arrives here he can stop this vote by attempting to drive the story through to the conclusion he believes it should have.

Get Ready for the Second Checkpoint (Community Verdict) Empty Re: Get Ready for the Second Checkpoint (Community Verdict)

To play devil's advocate, if there is a scenario where he lives, then there must be one where he dies.

How? There are a couple ways this could happen. While being further subdued, the sniper could likely find the time to readjust and get the kill.

Or he could refuse to be captured, choosing to instigate combat further, until they have no choice but to kill him or he buys enough time for the sniper.

People make mistakes, so it's also a possibility one goes a bit too far and accidentally kills him, failing their mission.

Although, I am favorable to him being captured, since that'd be more interesting.

There are more scenarios where he dies than I can count, to be honest, but him being captured is more in line with APAT's goal which is why I went with it. I thought that it would be a less permanent end to them, though if death is the vote tallied I'll record it as such.

I would just rather have both scenarios suggested, just so there isn't a fear of suggesting such, despite me believing your outcome is best, both logically and in a story telling sense.

I agree. The reason I ask is because, logically, there could be a more appropriate solution apparent to us where he outright dies. For instance, he and Conner may well just fall to their deaths here.

Get Ready for the Second Checkpoint (Community Verdict) Empty Re: Get Ready for the Second Checkpoint (Community Verdict)

Alright. The topic has been updated with a poll.

We have three days to sort this out. The possible outcomes are above. Notice: they are vague, because there is no reason to go into explicit detail on how each happens. If it can be reasonably justified, then it already has been.

At the end of the three days, the final verdict will be rendered and the topic will officially have ended, with the history behind it recorded into Radix's world.

Death should be avoided whenever possible. Besides prisoners are far more fun that corpses.

Well, it's the point of being brought to a logical conclusion. For instance, if he was falling into a pit of spike with no way to escape it, it would be unreasonable to believe that an event such as escape or survival would occur.

In this Scenario, APAT is far more likely to take them prisoner. It's simply a more logical course of action for them. There are just other scenarios available because there are different ways people can see it unfolding and whatnot.

Don't know if it counts but I did post. Do what you want though, I have been busy and it's unfair to you that I haven't posted so it doesn't matter.

Get Ready for the Second Checkpoint (Community Verdict) Empty Re: Get Ready for the Second Checkpoint (Community Verdict)

I'm going to clarify here: if you posted in the topic just to prolong this, as much as I detest the notion I'm considering giving it a Monday limit. You have to show an actual attempt to give it a resolution instead of just prolonging it by posting the bare minimum. This is not a community run by rules to force you to post, but one run by respect of one another. You should be able to keep up with with your topic here not because you have to or are forced to, but because you respect others enough to form an obligation towards them to let them have their story completed.

To underscore that, understand that we are not here for your convenience, nor are you here for ours. We are here to write with one another, plain and simple. Without actually trying to take a shot at another Roleplay site, we are not Kingdom Hearts RPG. This is a more serious environment with more flexibility and more responsibility. If you are not able to post, you need to notify us, or otherwise communicate that there is something happening on your end. To not do so is to demonstrate disregard for the community and to take it a step further, disrespect. This is how I truly feel on the matter. Whether or not that sentiment is shared I won't pretend to know, though I do hope it is understood. To be clear, there is a difference between being rendered totally inactive online and being active everywhere else but here.

If this topic does not progress sufficiently by Monday I believe that the original will of the community will be exercised, and according to majority Ander, Vokun, and Buggy will have been captured without going into explicit detail as to how this went about. This is so the world can actually have the casualty statistic and general events be referenced completely for the people who write there next. If there is a problem, I need to be notified either here or in PM.

Are there any objections to this, or any alternate solutions to be proposed?

I'd object, if there were more of an effort made to contact the group. If he is busy, which I don't doubt, there should be a common courtesy to discuss the outcome of the topic with all participants involved.

I understand this may not be the case with other websites, but continuity is extremely important here. If he sees this, I suggests he puts input on the situation.

Even just a notification that he can't continue the topic, because at least, as I've previously stated, it'd be courteous.
