Fallen - Page 2 Empty Re: Fallen

Both Vladimir and Rebecca stopped now; it seemed their patient was awake. Acting very carefully, Vladimir slowly set the man and the blanket down and propped them against the wall, while Rebecca was eyeing where they were coming from earlier. They were a good way's into it now; and closer to the emergency shaft than both of them thought.

It was dark, and poorly lit hall; the only lights being the soft red and blue glow that dotted the ceiling. Vladimir crouched down, ignoring a hushed and yet urgent 'Careful!' from the woman. "Mr...Oran was it?" he would ask the male, digging in his pocket for something he absentmindedly grabbed while fleeing the hospital; Riley's Hat.

Plopping it down on his head; Vladimir spoke again. "Here's that hat you were looking for." He said, as he tapped the hat's brim.

Riley groggily eyed the hat that the Russian offered to him, staring at it as though it were both a holy relic and utter garbage, somehow carrying both looks on either half of his face. His hand weaved towards the rim of the hat as it fell atop his head, attempting to clutch it like he wanted to confirm it's existence. "Ivan's hat," he stated in word slurry. "Yay." A short, simple and barely enthused reply failed to convey his excitement effectively.

He looked over the two of them, staring blankly at the Russian man and the woman ahead of him, trying his best to get his drugged mind to process the situation. He was in fact in a hospital. He was drugged. He was simple. But he was not stupid. Yes, he was definitely in some place that was at least like a hospital, even if he only had the bits and pieces to go on he was able to conclude that much.

"Where are we?" The words spilled from his mouth, dripping onto the cloak and giving cause to be acknowledged. They drew attention to themselves, raised alarms and such: Riley was starting to wake up, and potentially very soon would start to understand his situation. His comrades had been left behind, but he had been abducted. This didn't sink in for him, it didn't even occur to the drugged boy. But eventually, in time, and in fact very shortly would.

At this point, Vladimir was suppressing a chuckle. Call it childish or just plain creepy, he always enjoyed those under the effects of a drug; some of them did the oddest of things. Rebecca, however; didn’t take it too well; and kept shifting her gaze between each hallway, as if either looking around for something that wasn’t there, or making sure no one was there. She casually slipped a hand into the bag, grabbing something soft and rubbery; and well as something small and cylindrical.

Vladimir, his back still to the woman; he gave what could pass off as an apologetic smile. “We…are not in the Morgue, anymore. Don’t ask me why; but we are currently transporting you elsewhere, as the hospital has suffered a bit of damage…from something.” He explained, unsure why. It seemed Vladimir could slap the man, and he wouldn’t recognize the pain. He was given a quiet ahem from the Woman behind him; and Vladimir waved it off.

“Tell me…do you know what is going on?” he asked, although like earlier, he doubted he would be given a coherent answer.

Fallen - Page 2 Empty Re: Fallen

Riley bobbed his head at the man, creating a strange gesture that indicated maybe he knew what was going on. But, then, he head flopped to the side as sleep tried to grab at him once more and he fought off it's advances, shaking himself awake as he made eye contact with Vladmir and stopped moving completely, fall still save for the slight trembling of his hands, the movements of his breathing. "What happened," he repeated. His thoughts raced, he rattled his brain, and pieces came back.

"There was an earthquake..." He replied plainly, coming to the first event he could remember. Even if he had remembered more, even if he had in that moment recalled the meeting that he was attending prior, he wouldn't have said anything about it. He was so tired, and his judgement was compromised, but that didn't mean he was an idiot. He knew better than to spill that information to anybody.

Vladimir nodded carefully, gazing at the man with questioning eyes. "Well then...I'll believe you for now- you were just tazed a while back ago, perhaps your brain is a bit rattled due to shock and drugs." he said with a huff, before looking back at him again. "Yet those people were after us for a reason- If i found out you were lying to me, that shock i gave you will seem like...a respite." he said carefully with a smile, his rough russian accent emphasizing his...promise.

Suddenly, he would clap his hands together; getting up. "Well! we don't have much time to lose- i suggest we get going, da?" he said with a grin, holding out his hand in a guesture to help him up.

Riley would grab for Vladimir's hand, his judgement impaired as the drugs still lingered in his system. Even if Vladimir did manage to pull him up, Riley was horribly imbalanced. This would leave Vladimir doing most of the work, catching Riley's lazy hand, and keeping Riley falling from being raised up. The boy's hat seemed firm upon his head, not shifting during most of this. Riley himself was beyond that point, ready to just fall over in a stiff wind.

Reality wasn't settling for the boy. Riley was still high on morphine, the drug still writhing underneath his skin and traveling through his veins like tunnels below ground. His blood was rife with the stuff, making the world around him move faster than he could begin to process. His memories were not coming back anytime soon. Neither was the straw-hatted boy's balance.

As the man took Vladimir's hand, he would give a little smile; nodding as he lifted him up to support him and still be able to walk. gesturing with his free hand, he motioned Rebecca to keep going, noting that she was uncannily quiet as Vladimir and Riley's little discussion had been going on.

Brushing it off as a concidence; he continued forward, albeit slowly, as Vladimir was left with most of the work in walking; but surely enough they had continued forward. After a couple of minutes, Rebecca pointed out their destination. "There; that elevator." she said as she pointed at a rickety old elevator; a soft green light glowing to show where the elevators main console was.

It was so obviously old tech, a fact that was currently frightening Vladimir; and applying that to a rusty elevator, Vladimir began to wonder if there wasn't another way down.

~

Rebecca watched as Vladimir was beholding the elevator, and indeed; it didn't look the best of shape. In fact, it wouldn't be too far out there to say that she was a bit timid of getting on it herself. Instead of this though, she gave a smirk towards his direction- in plain view for him to see.

"What's wrong, Vladimir? You're not frightened by this thing are you?" she teased him, and he looked at her with an expression of irritated fear.

"Of course; why wouldn't i be- that thing doesn't look like it can hold even a feather." he shot back.

"Oh, come now- we've gone this far, why not go further?"

"Because we might die, woman!"

This would continue for a minute longer before Vladimir gave up with a defeated huff, and as if to ease his pain; Rebecca stepped on it- the elevator groaning under the newfound activity that was occuring. As if to prove her point further, she gave a leap; coming down on the elevator hard which made the platform groan and shake with greater intensity, and yet still remain vigilant.

She looked at him with an amused smirk. "See, if it can hold me just fine, it can hold all three of us." she told him, and still Vladimir looked doubtful. He gave another huff this time. "Can't go anywhere in life without trying something, at least." He muttered under his breath.

He stepped on, feeling the platform lurch under him; to which he gave a small shudder. It could be considered rather stupid, this fear of elevators; and one would think that it was because of the age of the elevator that scared the Devil Doctor; but no- Vladimir never liked the concept of being stuck in a small box; be it pulled by wire or gravity- both could be taken away in different circumstances.

Leaving rebecca to give a small smirk once more; she turned to the console. looking at it briefly; it would be as if she finally recognized it. Resting her finger on the middle of the green light, she pulled her finger to the right, before pulling it up; in which the light would suddenly turn orange and give another groan, this one accompanied by a screech of long unused wires as it pulled itself up into a climb to the higher levels.
